Speaker Bio
Dr Jassal was a GP for 32 years and retired in 2020. In 2021 he left work as Medical Director of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young Adults in Loughborough having worked in children’s palliative care for over 29 years. He has written and edited the Rainbows Children’s Hospice Symptom Control Manual, co-authored the Oxford Handbook of Paediatric Palliative Medicine (PPC), and was an editor of the PANG guidelines. He was an editor of Synopsis an abstract journal. He was chair and editor of the APPM Master Formulary until 2022. He helped develop the NICE guidelines for PPC as well as the RCPCH education and training curriculum in PPC. He helped develop the WHO guidelines 2021 on the management of chronic pain. He has authored various other books and published research papers around PPC. He was a tutor at Cardiff University in Palliative Medicine. He has been awarded FRCGP, an honorary FRCPCH and in 2014 a MBE.
