Consultant Psychologist, Consultant in Gambling Policy, and national expert on gambling related harm. He has over twenty-five years’ experience in the understanding and treatment of addictive behaviour. He is the founder and clinical director of the NHS Northern Gambling Service, with six regional clinics across the north of England, the first of its kind. He provides advice, evidence and expertise to policymakers on matters relating to gambling policy and treatment. He is a visiting lecturer in gambling harm at five universities, and he was the lead advisor for the first National Clinical Guidelines for Harmful Gambling. He has contributed to several books, research papers and regularly appears in the media. Matt is a member of the network of experts on gambling for the World Health Organisation (WHO), and a member of The International Think Tank on Gambling Research, Policy and Practice.
