Speaker Bio
Nick is a medical doctor with a background in clinical practice. Following growing interest in safety science he redirected his career and is now a human factors specialist with chartership through the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
Having worked for several years in the NHS, Nick now works for the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB). HSSIB is the independent and no-blame investigator of patient safety issues in England. Nick leads on national investigations, several of which have taken him into primary care.
Nick’s interests include investigation methods, qualitative research and supporting people after traumatic events. He has a PhD in safety science from the University of Nottingham and holds various honorary teaching commitments in relation to safety.
