I am a Research Fellow at the University of York and a Registered Nurse who spent most of my clinical career in general practice, working first as a general practice nurse and then as an advanced nurse practitioner. Since completing a PhD about professional identity and advanced nurse practitioners in primary care in 2017 I have worked as a lecturer in nursing and have researched primary care workforces. Most recently, I was the lead investigator on studies exploring the experiences of nurses in general practice during the Covid-19 pandemic and the cultural and structural issues associated with retention of nurses in general practice.
