After over 25 years working in various roles within Critical Care and Emergency Services Martin transitioned to Primary Care in 2015, and became an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in 2016. He quickly (if somewhat unexpectedly) discovered an aptitude for Primary Care Dermatology, and has been developing his Dermoscopy skills for over a decade.
He is particularly passionate about improving early detection of skin malignancies and in 2025 founded Access Dermatology, a Nurse-led independent service dedicated to improving early skin cancer detection in rural Scotland.
