Helena Cummings is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with a Specialist Respiratory Interest with a wealth of experience in both asthma and COPD. Helena leads the severe asthma service for Hull and its surrounding regions. Helena also plays a key role as a respiratory ACP in primary care, providing specialist patient reviews and mentoring clinicians. Helena developed a group of Respiratory champions in 2021 and is hugely passionate about sharing knowledge and giving everybody the opportunity to have a voice and bring about change. Now chair of the PCRS service development committee Helena is keen to push boundaries and ensure our respiratory patients receive the right care, the right way and at the right time!

Previously, Helena spent over a decade working in her much loved role as Respiratory Nurse Specialist in secondary care. Here she built expert knowledge and skill in the severe asthma and COPD services. Helena's move from secondary care enabled her to bring her respiratory expertise into the primary care setting and closer to the patient.
