I qualified as a nurse in 1992 and started my career on a cardiology ward and have worked within this field ever since including 7 years as a sister on a cardiac care unit. I was also lucky enough to work in Australia as a Heart Failure nurse for the aboriginal community- whilst living in a tent. I have been the Heart Failure Lead for BHFT for 14 years – educating, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for patients living with Heart Failure. I co-wrote the Heart Failure competency document that is now used nationally and helped to set up the Heart Failure Nurse National Forum I was awarded the accolade of Queens nurse in 2020 and a busy mum of 3.
