Dr Claire Barnsley MBBS FRCGP DFSRH PGCPCE

Dr Claire Barnsley is a portfolio GP, primary care leader, educator and advocate with over 20 years' experience working across the NHS. With experience as both a salaried GP and former GP partner, she brings extensive insight into the operational, workforce and leadership challenges facing modern general practice.

Claire currently serves as Chair of Wakefield Local Medical Committee (LMC), representing and advocating for local practices and GPs while providing strategic leadership across the district. She is also a member of the leadership team of the GP Provider Alliance and a Board Member of the Wakefield Place Provider Partnership, contributing to the development of integrated, sustainable healthcare services and system-wide transformation across West Yorkshire.

An experienced GP trainer, educator and mentor, Claire is passionate about developing future healthcare professionals and leaders. She has contributed to regional and national conferences and delivered educational events to both UK and international healthcare audiences. Through her role as Clinical Editor for Community HealthPathways, she supports the development of evidence-based pathways that strengthen collaboration between primary and secondary care and improve patient outcomes.
