Speaker Bio
Dr Toby Nelson is a UK Consultant Dermatologist, Mohs micrographic surgeon, and Co-Founder at Map My Mole. He brings over fifteen years of medical experience spanning the NHS, the British Army, and internationally recognised dermatology centres.
Toby graduated with first class honours from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in 2007, before serving for nine years as a Medical Officer in the British Army. He gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012 and became a Consultant Dermatologist in 2017.
He went on to complete an internationally acclaimed fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology in New Zealand. He is one of only a handful of consultant dermatologist in Europe who is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS).
His fastidious attention to detail and commitment to outstanding cosmetic outcomes have earned him a reputation as one of the UK’s leading dermatological surgeons.
His clinical interests span skin cancer, acne, hair loss in men and women, dermoscopy, and early melanoma detection. Toby has published widely, presented at international conferences, and continues to contribute to dermatology research.
As Clinical Director at Map My Mole, he oversees consultant-led mole review pathways that have delivered measurable improvements in early detection, reduced unnecessary referrals, and expanded safe access to dermatology expertise across the UK.
Outside of medicine, Toby is a keen runner completing several ultra marathons each year and he enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife Sarah, and their three children.
