Steve had been a GP Partner in Manchester since 1994, leaving his partnership in 2021 to work as a Locum in the same practice. He was also a GP trainer for 24 years and involved in training more than 60 GPs. He started advocating for GPs and the NHS more generally in 2021 having more time to look at the issues and potential solutions. This started with exploring the data available and sharing findings via social media. In January 2023 he joined Doctors Association UK, a volunteer advocacy group which campaigns on behalf of Doctors, the NHS, ‘Learn not blame’ and a number of other issues. As GP spokesperson he has been an active contributor to the debates and issues facing all sectors around the NHS and social care, with social media posts, a regular commentator in the press and wider media outlets.
