Mark qualified from Cambridge University and the London Hospital Medical School and is now a Consultant Coloproctologist at University Hospitals Birmingham. He has a major interest in pelvic floor disorders, including obstructive defaecation and faecal incontinence. He is a member of the executive of the Pelvic Floor Society.

He regularly performs colonoscopy and treats benign ano-rectal conditions such as piles and fissures. He has held a number of management positions within the NHS and was the inaugural Chair of the National Clinical Reference Group for Specialised Colorectal Services.
